Signing up from Portugal when the paperwork is not Portuguese

This page describes, from the outside and for information only, how account opening on the Ezz platform tends to run — with the emphasis on the part English-reading residents get caught by, which is never the form itself but the document review that follows it. ezzcasino.info opens no accounts, receives no files and has access to no balance.

What the form asks for

The document set for residents and non-residents

RequirementPortuguese nationalForeign resident or visitor
IdentityCartão de Cidadão, front and backPassport photo page, plus a residence title where one exists
AddressUtility bill or bank statement under three months oldThe same, or an atestado de residência from the local junta de freguesia
Payment instrumentStatement showing the deposit movementIdentical requirement; a foreign IBAN is accepted but slower
Tax numberNIF, sometimes requested separatelyNIF once resident; otherwise the home-country equivalent

None of these files travels through this site at any point. They go from the player to the operator's own verification area, and that is the only legitimate channel for them.

Names, and why they break things

Portuguese naming conventions are generous — two given names and two or three surnames are ordinary — and the reflex of anyone filling in an English-language form is to shorten. That reflex is the most expensive keystroke in the whole process. The reviewer compares three strings: the name on the account, the name on the identity document and the account holder recorded against the payment instrument. If any of them is missing a surname or an accent, the file is returned, and it is returned at the point where a withdrawal is already queued.

The same logic rules out third-party funding. A partner's card, a family member's wallet or a joint account held in another name will fund the balance without complaint and block its exit afterwards, because money only travels back to an instrument registered to the account holder. The consequences of that at payout time are described under withdrawals.

What tends to stall a file

  1. A passport photographed at an angle, so the machine-readable zone at the foot of the page cannot be read.
  2. Glare across the laminate from a flash or an overhead light. Side lighting solves it in one attempt.
  3. An address document older than three months, or one showing a previous address.
  4. A screenshot of an online banking page instead of the statement file the bank generates.
  5. An account country that does not match the country the connection comes from, which triggers a manual review even when everything else is in order.

Licensing context worth knowing before signing up

Ezz does not appear on the SRIJ register of operators licensed in Portugal and works under international licensing instead. That does not stop anyone from opening an account, but it changes the safety net: no arbitration by the Portuguese regulator, no gaming tax withheld at source, and no coverage by the national self-exclusion register. The full assessment sits in the platform review and the protective tooling under responsible gambling.

Account security from the player's side

Two habits remove most of the risk. Use a password that exists nowhere else, because compromised gambling accounts almost always start with a password reused from a service that leaked years ago. Turn on two-step authentication where the operator offers it, since it holds even when the password is already known to somebody else. And treat any request for a one-time code as hostile by default: no legitimate support desk, no bank and certainly not this site will ever ask for one. The pattern is set out under alternative domains and phishing.

Frequently asked questions

Can a foreign resident in Portugal open an account?
Usually yes, provided the country of residence is not on the operator's excluded list. The document set changes rather than disappears: a passport replaces the Cartão de Cidadão, a residence certificate or title covers the address, and the NIF may still be requested. What does not change is the matching-name rule between the document, the payment instrument and the account.
Which name should go into the form when a passport shows two surnames?
All of them, exactly as printed in the machine-readable zone, in the same order and with the same spelling. Dropping a middle surname is the single most common reason a verification file is bounced, and the mismatch only surfaces later, when a payout is already waiting.
Is a NIF required to play?
It is not universally required, but it is frequently requested, and anyone living in Portugal will already hold one. It is a tax identification number, not an identity document, so it complements the passport or Cartão de Cidadão rather than replacing it.
Does a foreign proof of address work?
It generally does, as long as it is recent, shows the full name and the address on the same page, and is legible without translation of the key fields. A document in a language the reviewer cannot read slows the queue down, so a bank statement with a recognisable layout tends to pass faster than a municipal letter.
Does this site register accounts or collect documents?
No. ezzcasino.info has no user accounts, no upload forms and no access to any gambling account. Every document exchange happens between the player and the operator. Anyone asking for documents, codes or payments in the name of this site is running a scam.
